Jason and the Argonauts

       I should recommend you all readers to watch this movie because you can learn good things here and for those who love adventures... I'm telling you, you'll love this movie.

       This movie is about Jason, heir of the kingdom of the Ancient Greece, he witnessed the murder of his father at the hands of his jealous and greed uncle Pelias. Jason's mother became the wife of Pelias. Jason wanted to get his mother back from Pelias in one condition, he should get the Golden Fleece and bring it back to Pelias. So Jason searched for his crew and he named it the Argonauts. They traveled into many places they've never went to, faced many circumstances and challenges with the help of Hera, the wife of Zeus and the mother of Hercules, one of his crew. They got the Golden Fleece, saved his mother and fulfilled his destiny with their perseverance, bravery and dedication.

       The actors did a wonderful job in playing their respective roles. They have shown what the watchers should see. They surpass the expectations of the watchers. Some of the actors are, Jason London as Jason, Olivia Williams as Hera, Dennis Hopper as Pelias and many more. I think the director has a good skill at picking his actors that will make what he wants to be seen in the movie.

       In the first set of scenes, they inserted flashbacks to understand more by the watchers. After each scene, they have dead part, the screen turns to black in a few seconds then next scene. They didn't focus on the sequence of scenes. They didn't end some scenes well. Also, they have a fast change and phase in the scenes.

          The background music is somehow not appropriate in some scenes. For example, the scene where Jason is talking to a centaur, the background isn't that good and appropriate for the scene. They inserted only few sound effects which if they put more, scenes will be much better. Some sound effects can't be heard by the movie watchers.

       The nights scenes  are not that real, as if I saw light coming from a spotlight. They should somehow find the good angle in the night scenes so that it will be real. Some scenes have good camera angles and some don't have, for example the scene in the Argo, the ship of the Argonauts. The camera don't have some distance that the scene is so near to the camera. They should have used some technology to have the camera have the perfect distance and camera angle. Also in addition the the lighting, they make the inside-the-building scenes good, they didn't put lighting. They make the scene real.

          I think if will to rate this movie in a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest I will probably give a rating of 8 because of some deficiency in some part of the movie.      I recommend the readers to watch this movie because it teaches about many stuffs. Has a nice effects and it also teaches us "perseverance".

       This movie is about Jason London (Jason) who is ordered by King Pelias which is his uncle, to get the golden fleece to save his mother's life. Jason is claiming his rightful place as the King so King Pelias asked Jason to retrieve the golden fleece. If he gives him the Golden Fleece, he'll get his crown back and save his mother. So Jason made up his team called the Argonauts as the title says. They traveled far away and fought different kinds of barriers that stops them but because of Hera's help the wife of Zeus, they surpassed all protagonists who wants them get killed. and they got the Golden Fleece. I was guessing that the theme could be like, Perseverance is the key to success.

     I can say, all the characters gave justice to their roles. Like, you can really see who are they portraying. Like Jason London as Jason, Jolene Blalock as Medea, Dennis Hopper as King Pelias, Olivia Williams as Hera and Angus Macfadyen as Zeus. You can really feel it just by looking at their facial reactions or by how they act on camera. They really is giving their hundred percent on their roles. Im loving how medea does her "No-blink-for-how-many-minutes" thing. It just makes her look gorgeous and also Jason's pretty face and that innocent look. Just makes me watch the movie more.

Im so sleepy~

Since this is an old movie, they haven't invented some awesome scenes yet. Even though this movie is good, some of the scenes makes me sleepy. You know, the parts they're just talking about nonsense stuffs that isn't needed for the movie. I can say they have poor editing but sometimes we need to listen about the conversations because that's the part where they tell every detail we need to know about the movie.

Believe me, they used good effects in this movie. We know this is an old movie but the way they did the harpies, the skeleton soldiers, the metal bull, the rock who was said to be Poseidon, Zeus and Hera in the sky, the thunderbolts, the whirlwinds, the rocks who bang together. It just made the movie more awesome although we can see it's kinda fake. But still, some effects are nailed.

This movie do not have too much sound effects. Like they just have some winds, whooshing or water splashing this is more on special effects than sounds.

I guess you guys will already watch this movie. I really recommend this movie because we can learn a lot of Greek mythology here like they used almost all of the Gods & Goddess in the Greek Myths.

My Life Verse

"Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture..."

       My life verse is taken from Mark 9:23, it states that," Everything is possible to a man who trusts." For me, the meaning of this is that we should not doubt or conclude about the things we are not sure of. As the Lord trusts us with all His heart to take care of all His creations, we should also trust ourselves that we can do something, we can accomplish something even the impossible.

       There are things we can do to accomplish something, one is, we should think of the positive side. If you doubted something, you have refused to know the God's truth that should be revealed. Like God has revealed Himself to us, we should believe and trust Him beacause He knows the truth and He knows everything here on Earth. In addition, if we doubt, it may lead us to spiritual blindness. If we trust then that means that we believe that something will happen positively.

       

Worship Experience

Holy Redeemer Church

       "All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God." ~~Psalm 86:9-10
       
       When everytime I enter the church, I feel like the Holy Spirit touches my heart and makes me a better person. I really feel that when I enter the Church I will learn a lot throughout the whole mass.

       Last time I've attended the mass, I learned that I shall help others. I shall help those people who really need my help specially the poor ones. Here in the Philippines, there are a lot of poor people, but We have local organizations that's helping them to make their status in their life better. Base on the priest, the first thing I should do is to pray for them that in case they didn't fin the true happiness and treasure here on Earth, they will find them there- in Heaven. Next thing I should do is to make them feel that they're not alone.


       During the mass, I remembered all the bad things I have done to others, to myself and to God. I asked forgiveness to the Lord for what I have done wrong. I really feel sorry for what I have done wrong in these years of my existence.

       Before the mass ended, I made a promise to myself and to God that I will not do what are wrong. Instead, I will do things that are right, things will make me satisfied and things that God wants me to do. Truly, the Word of God is powerful that it can change anyone who wants to return to the side of the Lord and have an everlasting happiness and life.

Retreat Experience & Christ's Suffering

   "We should love the Lord with all our hearts, with all our souls and with all our minds..."

       The quote above is one of the things I learned in our recent retreat. Because God loves us, He sent His one and only son, Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. Jesus Christ was nailed in the cross just to save us from our sins.

       After our retreat at Capuchin, I viewed myself in the future and saw good things. I saw myself having good relationship to others, to myself and to God. This was carved in my mind because as a person, I knew that sometimes I'm not really doing good, I sometimes forget what is right and what is wrong. I am just a person that commit sins and mistakes but, I should try my best for others to see Christ in me and that I am a Son of God.

   Our retreat really made me better, whenever I commit sin, I quickly realize that it is wrong, suddenly, all the lessons I have learned in our recent retreat pops out in my mind. I know I should apply the lessons I've learned after the retreat but, sometimes I keep on asking myself if I really get the true meaning of things during that event, but it's the past, what's more important is that I have made a conclusion that I will change for the better. I now know that Christ carried the cross, suffered in the cross, nailed in the cross and died in the cross for us just to save us from our sins.
